Shell CEML is housed on the third floor of the Energy, Coast & Environment Building. The multi-faceted computer resources of the Shell CEML are available to support the needs of the modeling community in developing a coastal ecosystem forecasting system.
Figure 1. Shell CEML Cluster - Frey Building:   The cluster consists of 70 dual-processor computational nodes, two login servers, two storage servers and a 4TB raid storage device. All of the above will be connected using two Gigabit networks, each with a Gigabit Ethernet switch.

1. Computing nodes: The computing nodes consist of dual Xeon EM64T (64 bit Xeon) running at 3.2 GHz or higher or dual Opteron 244 or higher.  2GB DDR 3200 ECC Registered RAM, 2 Gigabit Ethernet adapters, 120 GB hard disk.

2. Login server node: The computing nodes consist of dual Xeon EM64T (64 bit Xeon) running at 3.2 GHz or higher or dual Opteron 244 or higher.  4GB DDR 3200 ECC Registered RAM, 2 Gigabit Ethernet adapters, 400 GB hard disk.

3. Storage server node: The computing nodes consist of dual Xeon EM64T (64 bit Xeon) running at 3.2 GHz or higher or dual Opteron 244 or higher.  4GB DDR 3200 ECC Registered RAM, 2 Gigabit Ethernet adapters, 400 GB hard disk, and a fiber channel card.

4. RAID storage: Storage is provided with a 4 Terabyte (formatted capacity at RAID 5) fiber channel device running RAID 5 for maximum data security against hardware failures. The device has dual Fiber channel ports and a minimum of two hot spares.

5. Networking All the nodes are connected with a dual Gigabit switched network. Each of the two networks have a non-blocking bandwidth of 140Gbps. The Gigabit switch has the capability of supporting JUMBO FRAMES.

6. Operating System and Software requirements: All systems are running the 64 bit version of the Linux operating system. The National Partnership for Advanced Computational Infrastructure (NPACI) (www.npaci.edu) Rocks x86 64 cluster distribution are used for all the nodes.

Shell CEML Mini Cluster – ECE Building

School of the Coast & Environment

A 32 node Pentium II cluster is in the process of being upgraded to a 32 node Pentium IV or Athlon 64 based cluster. The cluster would consist of 32 compute nodes, 1 login node and 1 storage node. This mini-cluster is located on third floor of Energy, Coast, and Environment building to provide on site computational support of CEML.
